The National
Club
TORONTO | PRIVATE CLUB | 1,950 SQ FT
Established in 1874, the National Club stands as one of Toronto's oldest private clubs. Tasked with ushering in the next generation of members, Figure3 undertook the challenge of modernizing the club's aesthetic while meticulously preserving its historic significance as a designated heritage building.
Historical Modernization
Collaborating with the club's existing ambiance, Figure3 embarked on a design journey, seamlessly integrating timeless materials in a contemporary manner. Notable examples include the exquisite herringbone floor in the dining room, the artful repetition of mosaic tiles, and subtle brace detailing around the bar. The hotel suites underwent a similar transformation, retaining the wainscoting while introducing a modern touch with clean-lined millwork around the beds, artfully contrasted with intricate wall coverings.
Next
Generation
At the forefront of the evolving member landscape, the club prioritizes immersive experiences. Figure3 has ingeniously introduced an open kitchen concept at the 1874 Bar & Grill, the club's featured restaurant. This not only showcases the culinary process but also infuses a vibrant and contemporary spirit into the dining experience, marking a departure from traditional norms.
